Protein. Print Magazines. Promise Rings.

Internet Microdoses

David Protein is being sued for fat content in a class action lawsuit that claims the bars have 400% more fat than advertised. Sounds like Mean Girls, right? CEO Peter Rahal made sure we know that “no one is getting Regina Georged.” He probably can’t make “fetch” happen, but he is planning to countersue.

A 10-year-old became Paris Fashion Week’s youngest designer. Max Alexander debuted 15 sustainable looks at the Palais Garnier using deadstock fabric and a repurposed military parachute. He also claims he was Gucci in a past life. Honestly? Believable.

Vintage Calvin Klein gets a Love Story bump as searches spike on Depop for classic CBK looks. Calvin Klein is leaning into the instinct in its new campaign, styling Dakota Johnson in archival denim and underwear. Will ’90s dominance ever end?

Chanelmania is real as the fashion world goes feral for Matthieu Blazy’s first collection. Once it hit Chanel shops in Paris, customers were fighting over bags, and there was even a bomb threat. The most powerful marketing strategy is still the oldest trick in the book: make people fight for it.

Interior design magazines are booming despite print’s shaky foundation. Indie titles like apartamento, Scenery and Neptune Papers are winning by showing glimpses of intimate, lived-in real life that you want to sit with, not scroll past.

Aesthetic Study

Frutiger Aero

Frutiger Aero is more than retro-futurism. It was born in ordinary places — XP and Vista screens, airport kiosks, corporate sustainability decks. It’s sky-blue and leaf-green gradients, sun flares on water and glass, humanist sans-serifs floating over stock-photo nature and infrastructure. It signals: the network is benevolent, the planet is being handled, and the interface will guide you from one gate to the next.

We’re now living in the future those gradients advertised — total connectivity, a permanent state of “on” — but it feels heavy, not weightless. It reads like the ghost of a modernity we were promised but never quite received.

Frutiger Aero sits in that tension — too codified to feel new, too comforting to disappear — a visual optimism for a utopia we’re still waiting on.

A moment with

Federico Stefanovich

The Mexico City designer whose sculptural lighting lives between mobile, instrument, and architecture, all balance and poured light.

Federico Stefanovich, a Mexico City–based designer, builds sculptural lighting and collectible objects that sit somewhere between mobile, instrument, and architecture. After half a decade at Esrawe Studio, he set up his own practice to explore balance, counterweight, and the emotional connection between object and user — a language that moves from organic curves to strict geometry. His work has since shown with Ago Projects, at FOG Design+Art in San Francisco, Design Week México, and across exhibitions from Milan to Copenhagen, with his new Salina Collection marking the latest step in a steadily expanding universe of suspended pieces, poured light, and meticulous detail.

Where do you go to find peace?

Nature near water.

What’s the worst recommendation someone’s given you?

Be the first one to get to work and the last one to leave to be successful. I believe in being efficient and prioritizing other aspects in your life other than work is what will give you balance and a healthy mindset for creation and expression.

What's something you bought under $100 that changed your life?

Meccano Construction set when I was a kid. Those kinds of games made me understand building and creation was something I wanted to pursue since an early age.

What's the last article you sent to a friend?

MiLK Decoration’s Mexico City Art Week review.

Conversation Bench

Conversation Bench

Forget doomscrolling, some furniture is built for those of us who still like to shoot the breeze. Rodrigo Ohtake’s Torso Bench first arrived in 2018 as Banco Torso, a one-off carbon-steel piece for a performance at São Paulo’s MADE fair, where a ballerina moved around it like a partner. Reissued by ETEL in stainless steel in 2024, it joins a longer line of S‑shaped Victorian courting seats, Viennese café banquettes, and Eames‑era conversation pits: seating that includes social angles in the form. The curves compress a whole Ohtake lineage — Tomie’s sculpture, Ruy’s Onda stool, and hotel silhouettes — down to bench scale, finished like a gallery plinth rather than a living-room La-Z-Boy.

Shown recently at the Tomie Ohtake House-Studio, the bench reads like a chrome vertebra dropped from space. There are no privacy fins, no power strips, no ergonomic claims. It looks austere, but still offers the promise of human connection: two people, slightly offset, encouraged to chinwag and yap, gossip and gab.
