You might be wondering why you’ve seen people walking around Bushwick dressed in head-to-toe Manchester. Blame blokecore. Or, more specifically, blame Oasis. Their 2025 reunion was one of the year's defining cultural moments — 14 million people tried to buy tickets, the tour generated £1.06 billion, and bucket hat searches surged 175% year-on-year. What it left behind is blokecore — vintage football shirts, Sambas, baggy jeans, a general willingness to look like you know your footie and how to pour a proper pint.
It's worth being specific about what that language actually is, because it gets muddled. Blokecore draws from the casuals — the '80s football subculture that wore Stone Island, Lacoste, Fila, and Umbro not to stand out, but to pass as one of the lads. Blokecore took the casuals' codes, stripped out the hooliganism, and handed them to people who found it on TikTok. The authenticity is a myth, but the camaraderie is downright biblical.
