A pair of Ouro Petro lounge chairs by Jorge Zalszupin with a rosewood frame and orange leather upholstery.
Jorge Zalszupin founded L’Atelier, a furniture design company, in São Paulo in the late 1950s. The company became known for its innovative use of Brazilian woods and leather, creating pieces that were both luxurious and functional. His designs often featured clean lines, organic forms, and meticulous craftsmanship.

A PAIR OF OURO PETRO LOUNGE CHAIRS BY JORGE ZALSZUPIN

Made in 1900, this delicate gossamer silk curtain panel is from Scotland. Art Nouveau in style, it depicts a “water’s edge”. Embroidered rows of irises create a repeated pattern, growing in size as they descend vertically down the textile. The bottom is adorned with geometric forms alluding to symbols of water or a river bank.

Hollie Bowden converts London pub into pared-back jewellery showroom

This substantial and stately corner chair dates to the late 19th century, most likely originating in England or France. Made from solid oak and retaining its original patina, the chair exhibits almost cartoonish proportions of the popular bobbin furniture of the time. Bobbin furniture first gained popularity in Northern Europe in the 17th century, when mechanically lathe-turned wooden parts became a more organic alternative to historically rigid geometric structures.

Oak Corner Chair

The Clutha range, developed by Dresser and produced by James Couper &amp; Sons (Glasgow, 1888) reveals inspiration from Roman glass, especially in the opaque, darker coloured vessels. The range was sold exclusively through Libertys London, who after a few years removed the branding from the underside etching - as was their standard practice. The earliest examples retain ‘Clutha’; the Liberty Lotus mark, ‘Designed by C.D.’, and ‘Registered’ as can be witnessed on some pieces in the above collection.

Natalie Weinberger continues to explore the scrupulous technique of kiln-formed cast glass, known as pâte de verre, a process she debuted in the gallery’s first collection. This pair of sconces have a milky, creamy hue, with a swirling, repeating pattern reminiscent of stone architectural elements and sculptures of antiquity. Assembled with elegant brass hardware and green patina, they emit a glow that transforms any room into a calm and welcoming environment.

Glass Sconce 011 (Cream) Pair

Double ceiling element (Model 'Metropole') by Jean Prouve for The Metropole House. Jean Prouve built two of these houses, one in Vantoux in Moselle and the other in Bouqueval, near Paris. Like the school, the accommodation followed the portico principle patented by Prouve in 1939 and used in a range of postwar programs, notably in the housing field.

The Metropole House was finalized in 1948. Adaptable to any site, it came in two sizes, 8×8 meters and 8×12 meters. The second, displayed at the Home Show in Paris in 1950, was the teacher's house. Its all-steel structure comprised two load-bearing portal frames, which defined the interior space while leaving total freedom for the layout. Read more...

This Surrealism-Tinged Exhibition Includes Flamboyant Salad Sculptures and Snail-Bedecked Stools - Sight Unseen

Mathieu Matégot is a well renowned and celebrated Hungarian/French Modernist designer. Though a distinguished tapestry artist later in his career, he is perhaps most acclaimed for his groundbreaking material and technique, called Rigitulle. This proprietary visual vernacular was discovered during his time in the French Army during WWII, where he was captured as a prisoner of war. Matégot found that he could treat metal much like fabric, or specifically, tulle; he could masterfully manipulate the rigid material through bending and folding. He designed the beloved Copacabana Chair in 1955, after opening his second studio in Casablanca, Morocco. The enameled tubular metal and perforated steel allow for both a visually severe yet gracefully fluid composition, reminiscent of a pencil doodle languishing in space.
