Kazuhide Takahama (1930–2010) was a Japanese-born, Italian-adopted design genius. He started his career in Japan, but after meeting the legendary Dino Gavina in 1957, he was lured to Italy—the land of pasta, impeccable craftsmanship, and avant-garde design. Takahama was all about clean lines, precise geometry, and a certain quiet elegance that set his work apart. He collaborated with the likes of Gavina, Cassina, and Knoll, creating pieces that were minimalist yet undeniably bold. His furniture designs always carried a sense of serenity, blending Japanese restraint with Italian flair. And as you can see, the Suzanne chair is no exception.

Designed by Frama Studio, The Bar Stool 01 is inspired by the chairs commonly found in Nordic churches since the early 20th century. Originating in the UK before being imported to Scandinavia, this style of round-nosed wooden seating epitomises the democratic ideals that defined modern design. Frama has endeavoured to capture this democratic spirit by creating a useful object that is at home in a wide range of residential and commercial interiors.Constructed with premium-grade and locally sourced Baltic Birch, the joints of Bar Stool 01 are intentionally left exposed as an expression of the chair's traditional method of production. Finished with organic hard wax and oils, each stool is intended to develop a naturally unique wood patina as it ages.Defined by a geometric silhouette and a series of stark linear planes, The Bar Stool 01 is a picture of simplicity. Entirely made from solid birch wood and birch plywood, the bar stool is durable and it ensures a natural look and feel. The addition of a footrest also provides extra comfort. The Bar Stool 01 is versatile and provides simple seating for any bar or kitchen environment.
