1. Women heal differently than med do. 

🌀Especially at transitional life stages, gender neutral nervous system regulation doesn’t really apply to women. Just like gender neutral personal training or exercise doesn’t de facto apply. 

2. Our cultural fixation on down regulation is hurting us. 

a regulated nervous system ≠ calm

a regulated nervous system = responsive 🐆🐆

A “regulated” nervous system is RESPONSIVE to the environment and situation at hand.

3. Many “mindfulness” practices reinforce a freeze state. 

Meditation can be appealing to some people who have a lot of freeze in their systems. 🧊

So someone who has been immobilized a lot often goes to meditation in order to be in a familiar state but with a positive valence. 😇

4. Women especially need access to our healthy fight response.

This is probably the total opposite of what you’ve been taught- and it’s the key to healing for the female nervous system. 

In order to fully recover from a freeze experience, we have to spiral up out of the parasympathetic freeze and into our fight-or-flight responses. 👊🏽

5. Sexuality is not separate from your nervous system. 

IMO, you can’t do sexuality work without nervous system skills or a knowledge of female health.

If you do sexuality work without knowing what’s happening in your nervous system, you’re likely to recreate the same patterns that you’re trying to unwind, pushing some patterns further in.
