- 10% internet traffic through satellite, but most of the time when you are using your computer etc. these cables are being used.

- Watching videos, sending messages over WhatsApp etc., email you log into. They are all stored somewhere: data centres. E.g., Data Centre in Docklands (Stratford, London)
- Rackmound servers, stack on top of each other. 

- Asking ChatGPT what is the weather today - might consume as much power as charging LED bulb for an hour.

- Computer at home, laptop - can be a server. Just means it serves more than one person. If you make files available to others, technically a server. Might crash because not powerful enough to handle multiple connections.

(Idea of renting computer/server - store information centrally somewhere for people to access from anywhere in the world.)

AWS run by Amazon - warehouses full of computers, rent on hourly basis.

They make very little profit on selling items. 26% of income is selling income, 74% is from AWS. 

Netflix - videos stored on Amazon's warehouse computers - if more people watch, they increase the number of computers they rent. Shut down systems on days when fewer people watch. They get fixed monthly income from you but control their expenditure as variable cost based on demand, vs paying same amount all the time. 

Data Science

- Analysing data collected about us. Amazon - they collect information what we buy, they capture information about where we click on the screen. E.g. more shoes buy shoes if on right side vs left of screen. 

AI

- Primary and secondary platforms.
- Chat GPT, Gemini - are primary. 50-100 million each time you train them, all info on the internet, run through the model. 
- CoPilot - secondary, runs on Chat GPT, Apple - likewise. (All guardrailed)
- AI agents - you make your own agent that does specific task that runs on Chat GPT
