I’ve passed through so many lives, window shopping for my own. I’ve discarded old selves like clothes that no longer fit. I’ve found home a few times but kept my suitcase packed. I’ve drifted away and waited for reality to pull me back to it. Maybe in the form of a cute girl or an epiphany of purpose or a billboard sign leaving no ambiguity: “YOU BELONG HERE”. It’s hard to commit to one thing in a choose-your-own-adventure game this infinite. How can you pick one thing and let go of so many beautiful potentials? What is helping me the most is this underlying sense that on a deep level there are no wrong turns and eventually all roads lead home. No matter what external trip we take it’s ultimately an opportunity to learn the same lessons. So we might as well settle into the experience we’re having instead of trying to have a completely different one. Live a life and float gently down the stream.
